Ingredients

The filling

  • lbs Ground Beef or Ground Turkey (lean)
  • 1 small Onion, diced
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 cloves Garlic, pressed or minced
  • 1 each Green or Red Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon Mustard
  • Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • ½ cup Beef Broth (or water)
  • ½ cup Ketchup
  • 1 6 oz can Tomato Paste

The buns

  • 5 each Hamburger Buns

Instructions

  1. 1. Turn on the Sauté setting of the Instant Pot and cook the ground beef until mostly done, removing excess fat.
  2. 2. Add the diced onion, salt, and pepper, cooking until softened.
  3. 3. Stir in the garlic, bell pepper, red pepper flakes, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pot.
  4. 4. Add the tomato paste and ketchup on top without stirring.
  5. 5. Lock the lid and set the steam release knob to Sealing. Cancel Sauté and select Pressure Cook for 4 minutes on high pressure.
  6. 6. After cooking, let the pot sit for 5 minutes, then manually release the remaining steam.
  7. 7. Open the lid, stir the mixture to incorporate the tomato paste and ketchup, and adjust salt if needed.
  8. 8. Serve the mixture on soft hamburger buns.
