Ingredients

The torte

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 cup dates (dried, pitted)
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon water (as needed)

The coating

  • to taste unsweetened coconut flakes

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a frying pan over medium-low heat and add pecans.
  2. Pour in honey and cook until nuts are slightly browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Blend the cooked pecans with dates and cocoa in a food processor, adding water as needed to help the mixture stick together.
  4. For tortes, flatten the mixture into a ½ inch thick piece and cut out circular shapes.
  5. For truffles, roll the mixture into balls and coat with coconut flakes if desired.
