Whole30 Bang Bang Shrimp

Ingredients

Shrimp

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large egg, whisked
  • cup coconut flour
  • ½ cup arrowroot powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • to taste pepper
  • as needed oil coconut or avocado oil for frying
  • as needed sliced green onions, green part only (for garnish, optional)
  • as needed sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ¼ cup Whole30 mayonnaise
  • teaspoons sriracha or hot sauce
  • tablespoons ketchup
  • teaspoons coconut aminos
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  2. In a wide bowl, mix coconut flour, arrowroot powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip shrimp in the whisked egg, then dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and fry shrimp in batches until browned and crispy.
  5. Remove shrimp and repeat frying until all are cooked.
  6. Toss fried shrimp with half of the sauce and serve with remaining sauce on the side, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
