Instructions
- Chop and blot the strawberries, then freeze them.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Cut in the cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
- Whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla; add to the dry mix.
- Gently mix to form a thick dough, then fold in the strawberries.
- Chill the dough for at least 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven and prepare baking sheets.
- Shape the dough into balls and place on sheets, topping with coarse sugar if desired.
- Bake until the edges are lightly browned.
- Cool on the baking sheet before icing.
