Ingredients

The Bread

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or canola oil or melted coconut oil
  • cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

The Cinnamon Sugar Mixture

  • cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x5 loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugars, oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla, then mix in the pumpkin.
  4. Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, then pour the remaining batter on top.
  7. Swirl the batter with a knife and sprinkle the top with remaining cinnamon sugar.
  8. Bake for 60-65 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then invert and cool completely before slicing.
