Ingredients

The batter

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup superfine sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

The topping

  • ¾ cup Hershey chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup Hershey chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, sugar, and ¾ cup of the chocolate chips.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Spoon the mixture into prepared muffin cases and sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until the muffins are dark, risen, and springy.
