Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F and prepare an 8-inch baking pan with parchment and non-stick spray.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy, then mix in the flour and salt until it resembles coarse sand.
- Press the mixture into the prepared pan and bake until golden brown, about 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool.
- In a saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, butter, corn syrup, and salt; cook over medium heat while stirring until thickened and butterscotch-colored.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and pour over the cooled shortbread crust.
- Melt the chocolate in the microwave in increments, stirring until smooth, then pour over the caramel layer.
- Chill until the chocolate is set, then cut into squares and serve.
