Easy Beef Empanadas

Ingredients

The filling

  • ½ pound ground beef
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican Blend cheese
  • 1 tablespoon homemade taco seasoning

The wrappers

  • 12 pieces Goya empanada wrappers, thawed

The egg wash

  • 1 egg egg
  • 2 teaspoons water

Homemade taco seasoning

  • ½ tablespoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet and cook garlic and onions until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and season with taco seasoning, cooking until browned.
  3. Stir in shredded cheese until melted.
  4. Prepare empanada wrappers by glazing edges with water.
  5. Fill each wrapper with 1 tablespoon of the beef mixture and seal with a fork.
  6. Make an egg wash by whisking the egg with water and glaze the tops of empanadas.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F for 20 minutes or until golden brown, or air fry at 350°F for 8-10 minutes.
