Ingredients

The brownies

  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 cup creamy nut butter (almond butter, sunflower seed butter or peanut butter)
  • 1 cup coconut sugar (or maple sugar)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • tsp sea salt
  • ¼ cup raw cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder)

Optional toppings

  • to taste flaky sea salt
  • to taste melted chocolate (dairy-free)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9x9 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg.
  3. Add the nut butter, coconut sugar, vanilla, baking soda, and sea salt, and mix to combine.
  4. Gradually add the cacao powder, mixing until well combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the lined baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake for about 15 minutes until slightly underdone and squishy.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares.
