Ingredients

The batter

  • 2 units eggs or flax eggs
  • ¾ cup dark chocolate baking bar or chocolate chips, melted
  • ⅔ to ¾ cup smooth creamy almond butter
  • ½ cup fine raw sugar or sugar substitute
  • ⅓ to ½ cup non-dairy milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup gluten free 1:1 baking flour
  • 4 tablespoons Dutch cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ⅓ to ½ cup dark chocolate chips

Optional topping

  • to taste sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted dark chocolate, almond butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add this to the wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Optionally, sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
  6. Bake for 22 to 26 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out almost clean and the edges are set.
  7. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
