Instructions
- Prepare the pie crust according to instructions and chill.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and prepare the asparagus by peeling and trimming.
- Chop the onion and ham, and grate the cheese.
- In a medium pan, sauté the asparagus, onion, and ham in butter until softened.
- In a bowl, mix the eggs, cream, water, salt, and white pepper until frothy.
- Layer the cheese and ham mixture in the pie crust, then pour the custard over it.
- Arrange the asparagus spears on top and bake for about 30 minutes, then move to the middle rack for an additional 10 minutes.
- Broil to brown the top if desired, then serve warm or at room temperature.
