Hibiscus Margaritas with Ginger and Lime

Ingredients

The Margarita

  • 4 ounces good quality tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec (or orange liqueur)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • to taste lime slices (for garnish)
  • 1 batch Hibiscus Ginger Syrup

Hibiscus Ginger Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup honey (or agave or sugar)
  • 2–3 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers (or 3 tea bags)
  • 5–6 disks thinly sliced ginger
  • 6 whole cloves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Hibiscus Ginger Syrup by simmering water, honey, ginger, hibiscus flowers, and cloves in a pot for 5 minutes, then let it cool and strain.
  2. Fill a shaker with ice and add tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and the Hibiscus Ginger Syrup.
  3. Shake well and strain the mixture into two glasses filled with ice.
  4. Optionally, rim the glasses with sugar by rubbing a lime wedge along the edge and dipping it in sugar.
  5. Garnish with lime slices and serve.
