Ground Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients

The sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms
  • 2 teaspoons garlic
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup sour cream

The noodles

  • 12 ounces egg noodles

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles in salted water according to package directions.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the ground beef for 4-5 minutes, breaking it into small pieces, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Remove the cooked beef from the pan and cover to keep warm.
  5. Drain excess grease from the pan if necessary.
  6. Melt the remaining butter in the pan and add onions and mushrooms, cooking until tender and browned.
  7. Add garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  8. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
  9. Add beef broth, paprika, Italian seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce, stirring well and cooking until thickened.
  10. Stir in sour cream and return the ground beef to the pan, heating through.
  11. Serve the stroganoff over egg noodles and top with parsley.
