Instructions
- Prepare the dough by mixing warm buttermilk, warm water, yeast, and sugar, then let it sit until foamy.
- Add remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, salt, and flour, then mix until it forms a dough.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until soft and slightly tacky.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1.5 to 2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, cut it in half lengthwise, and twist the halves together.
- Place the twisted dough into a greased loaf pan and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the cinnamon crunch topping by mixing melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour.
- Spoon the topping over the loaf and bake at 350°F (177°C) for about 45-55 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
