Ingredients

The fish

  • 2 pieces sardines

The topping

  • ΒΌ cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 clove minced fresh garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced flat-leaf parsley

For serving

  • to taste salt
  • to taste lemon or lime juice
  • to taste heavily-buttered bread

Instructions

  1. Clean and fillet the sardines.
  2. Marinate the fillets in lemon or lime juice with a sprinkle of salt.
  3. Mix the breadcrumbs with minced garlic, olive oil, and parsley.
  4. Top the sardine fillets with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Broil the sardines until the breadcrumbs are crunchy.
  6. Serve the sardines on heavily-buttered bread.
