Ingredients

Ginger Syrup

  • 500 ml water
  • 1 piece ginger, 2-inch, peeled and pounded
  • 2-3 pieces pandan leaves, tied into a knot
  • cup sugar

Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice Dumplings)

  • 2 cups glutinous rice flour
  • 200 ml water
  • 2-3 drops red food coloring
  • 2-3 drops yellow/orange food coloring

Instructions

  1. 1. Boil water in a pot and add ginger and pandan leaves, simmering until fragrant.
  2. 2. Add sugar to the pot and let it simmer for 15 minutes, then set aside the syrup.
  3. 3. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour with water and knead until the dough is smooth.
  4. 4. Divide the dough into three portions, coloring two with food coloring.
  5. 5. Roll small pieces of dough into round balls and set aside.
  6. 6. Boil another pot of water and drop the tang yuan in; they are ready when they float.
  7. 7. Transfer the cooked tang yuan into the ginger syrup and serve immediately.
