Instructions
- Toast the black sesame seeds until aromatic and cool them.
- Grind the toasted sesame seeds into a fine paste and mix with sugar and butter to form a filling.
- Combine glutinous rice flour and water to form a dough, then divide into 16-20 balls.
- Flatten each ball, add a small amount of sesame filling, seal, and shape into a ball.
- Prepare the ginger syrup by boiling water with ginger and optional leaves, then add sugar and osmanthus.
- Simmer the syrup until reduced to about 4 cups.
- Boil the dumplings in water until they float, then transfer to the ginger syrup and serve.
