Easy Roasted Chicken

Ingredients

The chicken

  • 1 whole chicken

Seasoning

  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Special Equipment

  • 1 roll paper towels
  • 1 unit instant-read thermometer
  • 3 feet kitchen twine (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F.
  2. Prepare the chicken by removing any organs from the cavity and patting it dry with paper towels.
  3. Sprinkle salt and pepper generously over the chicken, inside and out.
  4. Tuck the wing tips behind the wings or slice them off to prevent burning.
  5. If trussing the chicken, do so now.
  6. Place the chicken breast-side up in a baking dish or roasting pan.
  7. Bake for 40 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  8. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
