sprinkles or crushed candy canes (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate chips with shortening or vegetable oil in the microwave, stirring at 30-second intervals.
- Dip the pretzel rods about ½ to ⅔ of the way down into the melted chocolate.
- Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
- If using caramel, melt it and dip the pretzel rods, allowing excess to drip off.
- Optionally, roll the dipped pretzel in sprinkles or crushed candy canes.
- Place the dipped pretzels on a cooling rack or a bowl to harden.
- Once hardened, package in cellophane bags tied with ribbon for gifting.
