Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and paprika. Cut in the butter until well mixed.
  3. Mix water and vanilla in a separate bowl, then add to the dry mixture until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 pieces and roll each piece into a thin rectangle, trimming edges if desired.
  5. Cut the rolled dough into squares and place on prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
  6. Bake for 5-10 minutes, checking frequently to prevent burning. Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
