Halloween Popcorn Balls

Ingredients

The popcorn

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • ¼ cup popcorn kernels
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

The coating

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • cups mini marshmallows
  • optional orange food coloring

The mix-ins

  • ¾ cup Halloween candy (candy corn, M&M's)
  • ¼ cup Halloween sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, add popcorn, cover, and cook for about 4 minutes, shaking frequently until popping stops.
  3. Remove from heat and toss popcorn with salt.
  4. Melt butter over low heat.
  5. Add marshmallows and stir until melted, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  6. If desired, stir in food coloring.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in popcorn, ensuring to remove unpopped kernels.
  8. Add candy to the mixture and stir.
  9. Allow to cool for a couple of minutes, then form into 10 balls.
  10. Roll the balls in sprinkles and transfer to the baking sheet. Optionally, press in straws or cake pop sticks.
  11. Let sit until firm, about 10 minutes.
