Ingredients

The fruit

  • 1 pound ripe peaches
  • 1 pound ripe plums
  • ¼ cup natural cane sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon arrowroot (or cornstarch)
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange blossom water (optional)

The crisp topping

  • ¾ cup rolled oats
  • ¾ cup white whole wheat flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • ½ cup natural cane sugar (or brown sugar)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • cup butter, melted
  • cup yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Cut the peaches and plums into bite-sized pieces and place them in a medium bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar and arrowroot, then sprinkle over the fruit and toss gently.
  4. Transfer the fruit mixture to an 8-inch square baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, sugar, and cinnamon, then mix in the melted butter and yogurt until a dough-like texture forms.
  6. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the topping is golden.
  8. Sprinkle additional sugar on top after removing from the oven, and add lemon zest if desired.
