Instructions
- Pound chicken breasts to 1-inch thickness and season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the chicken for about 5-6 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter, diced onions, garlic, thyme, and pepper flakes; sauté until soft.
- Add Italian seasoning, brown sugar, and balsamic vinegar; cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Whisk in chicken broth and scrape up browned bits; cook until liquid reduces.
- Reduce heat and whisk in heavy cream, stirring for about 30 seconds.
- Return chicken to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes until heated through.
- Adjust seasoning and garnish with basil or parsley before serving.
