Ingredients

The shrimp

  • 2 lb easy peel raw shrimp

The cocktail sauce

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • ½ tsp apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • tsp ground white pepper
  • pinch ground cloves

Optional garnish

  • chopped parsley
  • lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Steam the raw shrimp over boiling water until they turn pink and opaque, about 5 minutes.
  2. Plunge the cooked shrimp into ice cold water to stop the cooking, then drain and peel, leaving the tails on.
  3. Combine all cocktail sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix until well combined.
  4. Arrange the shrimp on a serving plate, place the sauce in the center, and garnish with parsley and lemon wedges if desired.
  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
