Instructions
- Roast the garlic in a skillet until blackened on both sides.
- Remove the skins from the garlic and return the peeled cloves to the skillet.
- Add all other ingredients except lime juice to the skillet and stir together.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a blender, adding the lime juice.
- Blend until smooth, adjusting consistency with more lime juice if desired.
- Store the sauce in a sterilized jar, allowing it to sit for a day or two for the flavors to meld.
