Philly Cheesesteak Sliders

Ingredients

The meat and veggies

  • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ green pepper roughly chopped
  • ½ white or yellow onion roughly chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ jalapeño minced, remove seeds for less heat
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 8 oz boneless ribeye, shaved as thinly as you can
  • 4 slider buns

The cheese sauce

  • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • cup milk (2% recommended)
  • ½ cup extra sharp cheddar, grated
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat.
  2. Add green pepper and cook for 7-8 minutes until starting to soften, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  3. Once softened, add onion and cook for 5-7 minutes until translucent.
  4. Reduce heat to low-medium and add jalapeño and garlic, mixing well.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then push the veggie mixture to one side of the pan.
  6. On the empty side, add shaved ribeye, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook for 1-2 minutes until mostly browned.
  7. Combine the meat with the veggies and set aside.
  8. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat and whisk in flour until fully incorporated.
  9. Slowly add milk, whisking to combine, and bring to a quick boil before reducing to a simmer until thickened.
  10. Stir in cheese until blended and season with salt and pepper.
  11. Slice slider buns in half and top with the meat and veggie mixture, then pour cheese sauce on top.
  12. Serve hot and enjoy!
