Ingredients

The skewers

  • 12 skewers bamboo skewers

The chicken and vegetables

  • 1 kg chicken thigh
  • 1-2 pieces green shallots

The sauce

  • ½ cup Teriyaki sauce

Instructions

  1. Soak the skewers in water for 20 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Heat the teriyaki sauce in a saucepan until it simmers and thickens, then set aside.
  3. Cut the chicken into 2 cm pieces and the white end of the shallots into 2 cm pieces as well.
  4. Skewer the chicken and shallots alternately on each skewer.
  5. Preheat the BBQ grill and coat it with olive oil.
  6. Place the skewers on the grill and cook until browned, then turn to cook the other side.
  7. Brush teriyaki sauce over the chicken skewers, turning them to coat both sides.
  8. Repeat the brushing process one more time and then turn off the heat.
  9. Serve the yakitori skewers on rice or with a green salad.
