Ingredients

The chicken and vegetables

  • 1 lb boneless and skinless chicken leg meat, cut into bite-size pieces

  • scallions, white part only cut into 2-in lengths

The tare sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ cup mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tare sauce by combining all its ingredients in a small saucepan and bringing it to a boil, then set aside.
  2. Thread chicken pieces onto bamboo skewers, alternating with scallions.
  3. Preheat the BBQ grill and season the chicken with salt, turning the skewers to ensure even cooking.
  4. Once the chicken is nearly cooked, brush with tare sauce and grill for an additional 30-40 seconds on each side before serving.
