Chicken Yakitori

Ingredients

The chicken and vegetables

  • 2 small chicken breasts, skinless and boneless
  • 4 large green onions
  • 2 tablespoons oil

The yakitori sauce

  • cup soy sauce
  • cup mirin
  • tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Soak 10 bamboo skewers in cold water for 5 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, and sugar over medium heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Chop the chicken and green onions into 2-inch pieces and thread them onto the soaked skewers.
  4. Brush the yakitori sauce on all sides of the skewers.
  5. Heat oil in a grill or non-stick skillet and grill the skewers for 5 minutes, turning regularly.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle with more green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
