Ingredients

The steak

  • 2 lb. flank steak

The marinade

  • ½ teaspoon coarse salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2-3 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Tenderize the flank steak by pounding it to an even thickness.
  2. Sprinkle both sides of the steak with salt and pepper and massage into the meat.
  3. Whisk together soy sauce and honey, then pour the marinade over the steak.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, flipping halfway through.
  5. Preheat the grill to 450ºF – 500ºF.
  6. Remove steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  7. Sear the steak over direct heat for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  8. Move the steak to indirect heat and cook for about 10 minutes, checking the internal temperature.
  9. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  10. Slice the steak against the grain into strips.
