Ingredients

  • cup granulated sugar
  • 6 Tbsp Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 ½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, and cornstarch in a medium saucepan.
  2. Pour in the milk and whisk until well blended.
  3. Bring to a light boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer for about 10-15 seconds while stirring constantly, then remove from heat.
  5. Stir in cream and vanilla, then let cool slightly before serving.
  6. Serve with whipped cream or marshmallows on top if desired.
