Healthy BBQ Chicken Thighs

coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
The sauce
Instructions
- Trim the chicken thighs as needed and place them in a large Ziploc bag.
- In a small bowl, combine all spices and coconut sugar.
- Pour the spice mixture into the Ziploc bag and shake until the chicken is completely coated. Refrigerate for 4-24 hours.
- When ready to grill, let the chicken sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- Heat the grill to 400°F and wipe it down with oil or nonstick spray.
- Cook the chicken on direct heat for about 4 minutes on each side, then flip and cook for another 4 minutes on the first side.
- Move the thighs off direct heat, baste each side with BBQ sauce, and cook for another 1 minute on each side until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Serve the chicken.
