Grilled Garlic Basil Shrimp

Ingredients

The marinade

  • ¼ cup white cooking wine
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon dry basil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

The shrimp

  • 2 pounds large shrimp, deveined & shell off

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp and place them in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the garlic, dry basil, lemon zest, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Add the white cooking wine and slowly whisk in the olive oil to emulsify.
  4. Pour the marinade over the shrimp and mix to coat all shrimp evenly.
  5. Let the shrimp marinate for 20 minutes.
  6. Heat the grill to medium-high heat and place the shrimp in a grill basket or on skewers.
  7. Grill the shrimp until they are pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Serve with fresh lemon slices.
