The dry ingredients

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper if desired.
- Process ½ cup of sliced almonds in a food processor until broken into small pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
- Whisk together the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and gradually add to the wet mixture.
- Fold in the ground almonds and form the dough into balls about 1.5 tablespoons in size.
- Coat the dough balls in powdered sugar and place them on the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Optionally, press a few sliced almonds into the top of each cookie.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes until puffy and edges are set, then let cool on a rack.
