Ingredients

The shake

  • 2 ripe bananas previously peeled, chopped, and frozen
  • 1-2 pitted medjool dates more or less depending on desired sweetness
  • cup cooked chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 2-3 Tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder (optional)
  • ½ cup unsweetened dairy-free milk, plus more as needed
  • 1 pinch sea salt (optional)

For serving

  • to taste peanut butter
  • to taste coconut whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Add frozen bananas, dates, chickpeas, peanut butter, and cacao powder to a high-speed blender.
  2. Add dairy-free milk gradually and blend on medium/low to keep the shake thick.
  3. Blend until creamy and smooth, scraping down the sides and adding more milk if needed.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness by adding more dates, banana, or peanut butter.
  5. For a thicker shake, transfer to the freezer for 15-30 minutes.
  6. Divide between serving glasses and enjoy, optionally topping with extra peanut butter or coconut whipped cream.
