Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds fresh asparagus
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup Panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish with butter.
  2. Add the trimmed asparagus to the casserole dish and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, then toss to coat.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in the milk and reduce heat to medium-low, simmering until the sauce thickens (about 3-5 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  6. Pour the cheese sauce over the asparagus and sprinkle with Panko breadcrumbs.
  7. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and the asparagus is tender.
