Ingredients

The pie crust

  • 1 recipe Buttery Flaky Pie Crust or All Butter Pie Crust

The filling

  • 6 cups peeled pears, cut into ½-inch chunks
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

The crumble topping

  • ½ cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust according to the recipe until step 5.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).
  3. Roll out the chilled pie dough and place it into a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Combine the pear chunks, cranberries, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, and lemon juice in a large bowl.
  5. Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour for the crumble topping, then add melted butter and mix until crumbles form.
  6. Spoon the filling into the crust and sprinkle the crumble topping over it.
  7. Bake for 55-65 minutes, using a pie crust shield if necessary to prevent over-browning.
  8. Cool the pie completely on a wire rack before serving.
