Ingredients

The fritter mixture

  • 1 cup yellow split peas (soaked 4+ hours)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 2 - 3 cloves garlic (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 handful cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cumin
  • ¾ teaspoon salt

For frying

  • 1 - 2 teaspoons avocado oil (or olive oil)

Instructions

  1. Soak the yellow split peas for a minimum of 4 hours, then drain and rinse them.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until mixed.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet.
  4. Scoop a spoonful of the mixture, form it into a loose ball, and add it to the pan, flattening it with a spatula.
  5. Cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until done.
