Ingredients

The beef

  • 4 lbs chuck roast or brisket cut into large cubes

The seasoning

  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • teaspoons oregano (preferably Mexican oregano)
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 1 canned chipotle pepper
  • 1 tablespoon adobo sauce from chipotle pepper can

The liquid

  • 1 cup beef broth

The garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Place the meat in a slow cooker.
  2. Add garlic, salt, pepper, cumin, oregano, bay leaf, chipotle, adobo sauce, and beef broth.
  3. Stir to combine the ingredients.
  4. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 6-8 hours.
  5. Shred the meat with two forks and remove the bay leaf.
  6. Sprinkle with cilantro and serve.
