Ingredients

The chicken

  • 4 pieces small boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 8 ounces each)
  • to taste none Salt
  • to taste none Pepper
  • to taste none Taco seasoning

The sauce

  • 1 ½ cups salsa
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and taco seasoning.
  3. Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and grease it.
  4. Sear the chicken breasts until well-browned on both sides.
  5. Pour salsa over the chicken and bake for 15 to 25 minutes until the chicken reaches 150°F.
  6. Sprinkle cheese over the chicken and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until it reaches 165°F.
  7. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
