Beef Chow Mein

The Sauce

The Chow Mein

vegetable oil, divided

onion, sliced

carrots, julienned

celery, thinly sliced

sliced green onions, optional

shredded cabbage

chow mein noodles, cooked according to package instructions
Instructions
- Mix the sliced steak with baking soda and let it sit in the fridge for 10 minutes.
- Combine all sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
- Rinse the steak under cold water, then marinate it with two tablespoons of the sauce for 20 minutes to 1 hour.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned, then set aside.
- Add the remaining vegetable oil to the skillet along with the onion, carrots, and celery, cooking until soft for about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the green onions and cook for 1 minute before adding the beef back, along with the shredded cabbage, cooked noodles, and remaining sauce.
- Reduce heat to low and cook for 3-5 minutes until the cabbage wilts and the sauce thickens.
