Ingredients

The chicken

  • 6 pieces boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper

The sauce

  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • cup low sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

For garnish

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • to taste chopped cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over high heat and season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown, then transfer to the slow cooker.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together garlic, ketchup, soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil.
  4. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 3 hours.
  6. In a bowl, mix cornstarch with ¼ cup cold water and add to the slow cooker.
  7. Cook for an additional hour or until the sauce thickens.
  8. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
