Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Ground Sausage
  • 2 tbsp. Butter
  • 4 tbsp. All Purpose Flour
  • cups Milk
  • tsp. Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the sausage until all fat is rendered, about 10 minutes on medium-high heat.
  2. Add the butter and let it melt completely until foamy.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until mixed evenly.
  4. Add 1 cup of milk, reducing heat to low as the mixture thickens quickly.
  5. Once thick, add the second cup of milk, stir well, and then add the remaining ½ cup of milk (or heavy cream if desired).
  6. Stir in the black pepper, adjusting to taste if sensitive.
