Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- Cut the cold butter into small cubes and mix into the flour until it resembles small clumps.
- Make a well in the mixture and pour in the buttermilk, folding until combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently roll it out, then fold and repeat to create layers.
- Shape the dough into a rectangle and cut into 8 squares, placing them on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-13 minutes until golden brown and brush with melted butter.
- In a skillet, cook the sausage until browned, then add butter if needed.
- Sprinkle in flour and pepper, cooking for 1-2 minutes before adding milk and seasoning with salt.
- Cook until the mixture simmers and thickens, then serve over the biscuits.
