Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

Ingredients

The sausage and gravy

  • 12-16 ounces breakfast sausage
  • 1 tablespoon dehydrated onion
  • ΒΌ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3-4 cups milk
  • to taste Tabasco sauce
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

The biscuits

  • as needed biscuits

Instructions

  1. In a cast iron skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the sausage, stirring frequently.
  2. When the sausage is halfway cooked, add the dehydrated onion and a few shakes of Tabasco sauce.
  3. Once the sausage is fully cooked, add the flour and stir to coat completely.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and whisk in 1 cup of milk until thickened and bubbly.
  5. Add another 2 cups of milk and season with salt, additional Tabasco sauce, and black pepper to taste.
  6. If desired, add up to 1 more cup of milk for desired consistency.
  7. To serve, break the biscuits in half and spoon the gravy over them.
