Quick Creamy Sausage Pasta

Ingredients

The pasta

  • 12 ounces rigatoni or your favorite pasta
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

The sauce

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • ΒΌ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 14-ounce cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • optional Shredded Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil and brown the sausage, breaking it into smaller pieces.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking until the garlic is fragrant.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, and salt and pepper, then simmer covered for 15 minutes.
  5. Mix in the heavy cream and add the drained pasta, stirring until well coated.
  6. Serve and top with Parmesan cheese if desired.
