Instructions
- Cook the pasta in boiling water until al dente, then drain and reserve some pasta water.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the sausage on both sides.
- Add reserved pasta water to the skillet to prevent burning and cook the sausage until almost done.
- Slice the sausage into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter, onions, thyme, Cajun seasoning, Italian seasoning, and chili flakes. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add garlic and tomato paste, cooking for a few more minutes.
- Stir in diced tomatoes and cook until softened, adding water if necessary.
- Return the sausage to the skillet with bell peppers and add chicken broth. Cook until the sausage is fully cooked and the sauce thickens.
- Mix in the cooked pasta, ensuring it's well coated with sauce. Adjust seasonings as needed.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.
