Fudge Brownie Pie

Ingredients

The crust

  • 1 unbaked Flaky Pie Crust
  • 1 large egg white

The brownie filling

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil or melted coconut oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • optional ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge, chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  2. Roll out the chilled pie dough and place it in a 9-inch pie dish, crimping the edges.
  3. Chill the pie crust again for at least 30 minutes before blind baking.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and partially blind bake the crust for about 15-16 minutes.
  5. Remove the parchment and weights, prick the bottom with a fork, and bake for an additional 8 minutes.
  6. Brush the warm crust with the egg wash and set aside.
  7. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (177°C).
  8. Melt the butter and mix it with sugar, then add eggs and vanilla.
  9. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt, then fold in walnuts and chocolate chips.
  10. Spread the brownie batter into the prepared crust.
  11. Bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  12. Cool for 20 minutes before slicing and serving.
