Crispy Baked Tofu

Ingredients

The tofu

  • 1 block (12 to 15 ounces) organic extra-firm tofu

The coating

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot starch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess water, then slice into even slabs and cubes.
  3. Place the cubed tofu on a towel, cover, and press with a weight to drain for at least 10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine the pressed tofu with olive oil and tamari, then toss in the starch until evenly coated.
  5. Spread the tofu on the baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, tossing halfway through.
