Ingredients

The tofu

  • 1 block extra-firm tofu

The seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • a pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon arrowroot starch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Drain the tofu, cut it in half lengthwise, and press it between towels with a heavy object for 10 minutes.
  3. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and toss with sesame oil.
  4. In a small bowl, mix salt, garlic powder, and cayenne, then sprinkle over the tofu and stir well.
  5. Add arrowroot starch to the tofu and stir until it's no longer visible.
  6. Spread the tofu on the baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Flip the tofu cubes and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or add to meals.
